A series of programmes were organized by Social Science Club to mark the International Women's Day on Friday .
International Women's Day (IWD), also called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year.[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements (Ref. Students from 5th standard with the intention of providing "a glimpse" of what some women across the world are doing and to focus in a positive way on their lives.
International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900s, a time of turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. The first National Woman's Day (NWD) in the US was observed across the United States on 28 February, 1909.
Clara Zetkin, a German Social Democrat, tabled the idea of an International Women's Day in 1910 during an international conference on women's rights in Copenhagen.
As part of that Students dressed up like famous women and played a role in front of the school assembly mainly Clara Zetkin, Anne Besant ,Sarojini Naidu, Mother Teresa, Merry Curie, Kamala Das, Queen Elizabeth and Aan San Suki.
Students from 5th standard names T. Nishila, Aysha Nishna, Raniyya, Aparna Martin, Majida and Hriya participated on the program.
Social Science club convener Mr. M Akbar Ali, Teachers K. K Asma, Marvamol, Muneera and Shahoo Ali were guided the students.
