ABACUS Class

Dear Parents,  

We are pleased to inform you that the ABACUS Course in our school is going to begin as we decided in a PTA Meeting . Abacus Master, provides a start up education to make learning interesting, lively and full of fun.

It develops children’s concentration, thinking, observance, reading and writing abilities. So our students also get an opportunity to learn this method in our school.

Classes will be started on 8^th April onwards. Those who are interested to attend the classes have to give names to the Class Teachers.

International Women's Day

A series of programmes were organized by Social Science Club to mark the International Women's Day on Friday .
International Women's Day (IWD), also called International Working Women's Day, is marked on March 8 every year.^[2] In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements (Ref. Wikipedia )

Students from 5^th standard with the intention of providing "a glimpse" of what some women across the world are doing and to focus in a positive way on their lives.
International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900s, a time of turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. The first National Woman's Day (NWD) in the US was observed across the United States on 28 February, 1909.
Clara Zetkin, a German Social Democrat, tabled the idea of an International Women's Day in 1910 during an international conference on women's rights in Copenhagen.

As part of that Students dressed up like famous women and played a role in front of the school assembly mainly   Clara Zetkin, Anne Besant ,Sarojini Naidu, Mother Teresa, Merry Curie, Kamala Das, Queen Elizabeth and Aan San Suki.

Students from   5^th standard names T. Nishila, Aysha Nishna, Raniyya, Aparna Martin, Majida and Hriya participated on the program.

Social Science club convener Mr. M Akbar Ali, Teachers K. K Asma, Marvamol, Muneera and Shahoo Ali were guided the students.

Inter School Quiz Competition Conducted

As part of the Republic day celebration on Saturay, 25^th  January 2014  Meridan Public School, conducted an Inter School Quiz Competition  for  LP & UP students. Students from four School participated in program.

 Planning

 Planning for the Inter School Quiz Competition  began a month   before the actual event. It took a
lot of hard work involving preparing notification, making brochures, visiting school and publicity . We also had to have a couple of physical meeting to successfully plan this event.
At last on 25^th January Saturday the competition was held on school auditorium.

Attendees

We planned to invite a total of 120 attendees. It was due to space constraints that we limited the number of participants to just 120 . As a tribute to the host institute we reserved 60 seats for LP students and the remaining 60 seats were set out UP Students . Registrations for the event opened on 15^th January , through the school blog and direct .
The registrations were open till 24th January, and we received 100+ registrations.

In recognition of their awe-inspiring performance in UP Section ,Fathima Binsiya .C and Shehna Sherin. K won first and second prizes respectively. They were came from National English Medium School , Nellikuth

In LP Section N. Shamil and Jalal Muhammed Musthafa won First and second prizes respectively. They were students from Meridian Public School.

Prize Distribution

 Prizes will be distributed on School annual day which scheduled to third week of February 2014. Congratulations to all participants.
