With
a view to regain the glory of the good old days of Gottikali and Ammanamadal, an
indigenous Sports Fest is conducted at Meridian Public School on National Sports
Day. Competitions will be held on 28th of this month for students up
to the Std. VII from various CBSE schools of the district. The items for
competition include Gotti kali and Seven Stones for boys, Ammanamadal and Kakku
kali for girls.
With
the supremacy of money games like cricket, most of these indigenous games were
for namesake. Those games were not only play, but it also marked society at
various levels. This is a time to look back to those days when we filled gottis
in our pockets and went home proudly.
