International Day against Drug

June 26 is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987, this day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by Member States of creating an international society free of drug abuse.As part of it Meridian Public School conducted Rally, Distribution of pamphlet and speech.

On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26-06-2013 (Wednesday) school students chalked out an action plan for the year ahead to fight the drug menace.

School Chairman K .Kunjalavi Haji  inaugurated observance of the day organised jointly by the Social science and  Science clubs at Meridian Public School , Pandallur . School Principal Mr.K. Abdul Rasheed  said anti-liquor clubs have major role in  our society.Teachers  conducted awareness classes and interactive sessions for the children.

 Students organised a poster exhibition on the theme of drug abuse. And they made many placards and used those in an awareness rally. The rally was gone through the Millumpadi, Pulikkal and Pandallur town.

HATS OFF TO THE SCHOOL PARLIAMENT

With high spirit of competition and sense of democracy, Meridian Public School, Pandallur  conducted election for the school parliament.

  The election was conducted for the posts of School Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Arts Secretary and Sports Captain.  Akshay of Std. VII was  elected as the School Prime Minister. 

Polling

There was tight competition for all  posts.  Rushda VK of Std. VI was ascended as the Deputy Prime Minister.  Shanah Hussain of Std. VII and Arshad of Std__added golden feathers to their hats by being selected as the Sports Captain and the Arts Secretary respectively.Mr. Akbarali and Mr. Saood and stewarded the process of election.  Seena Thomas of Std. VII was the Polling Officer. Mohammed Shanil, Sadathali, Afna and Febin of Std. VII assisted for the smooth running of the polling.

 Mr. Abdul Rasheed, Principal announced the results in School Assembly and congratulated the winners making  the programme a big hit.

Reading Day Programs

As a part of Vayana varam (Reading Week), it is decided to conduct various programs for students to improve their reading and linguistic skills under the banner of Literary Club of Meridian Public School.  Various class based programes will be informed by  teachers-in-charge of Literary Club.  Quiz Competition, Film Review Competition, Book Review Competition, Story Writing, Versification, Story telling for KG Students will be conducted.  Those who are interested to participate are requested to contact the teachers-in-charge of the Club.

WORLD ENVIRONEMENT DAY OBSERVED

With varied and awareness programs, Meridian Public School,Pandallur near Manjeri  observed World Environment Day.  As a part of the  occasion, Students and teachers planted the trees as a part of the occasion. Special Assembly was also conducted . Various competitions such as Placard Making and Painting competition  were   organised.

The program and planting of tree sapling was inaugurated by Mr. K V Mohammedali, President, Anakkayam Grama Panchayat.  He advised students planting of trees is not enough, the protection andcare we give it is important.  He remembered the consequences of the environmental degradation and pollution  we suffered during this summer including the shortage for water.

Mr. Nanippa, Ward Member, was the chief guest. Mr. K. Abdul Rasheed, Principal spoke at the occasion. Mr. M.P .Kunhalavi Haji, Chariman of Meridian Public School, and Mr. Abdul Aziz, Secretary of Meridian Public School were present.

Students of each class and teachers planted the tree saplings. As an awareness programm, the “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson was also screened. Mr. Abdul Rahoof, Mr. Mohammed Basheer, Mr. K. Riyas, Mrs. Rohini, MS. Muneera, Mr. Shaood guided the students.
